Ski Touring

Ski Touring means different things to different people.  From spending days in the mountains going hut to hut to just a short 'skin' to find some better snow or just get away from the pistes.

Ski Touring

What is it?

Ski Touring has several forms from lift access touring using more normal offpiste eqipment, to super lightweight kit for longer tours.  We might only tour for under an hour to get some fresh tracks or go further afield for a longer adventure.

Who is it for?

Many types of skier.  Skiers who like to hike. Skiers really seeking fresh tracks.  Anyone whose up for a real adventure. Skiers who can't stand the crowds!

What to expect.

Great scenery, limited people around you.  Again there are many forms of touring.  You might just be in it for the hike and a day out with a bonus ski at the end!

What do I need?

Skis with touring capability, and skins.  Talk to us if you don't know what that means.

We can provide the safety equipment if required.

For longer ski tours, a reasonable level of fitness is a big plus.

Is it safe?

Everything carries risk, from getting out of bed to climbing 8000 meter peaks!  When done correctly and good educated decisions are made, offpiste skiing can be considered as safe as driving a car (safely).  If uneducated decisions are made or just blindly going, it can be extremely dangerous which is why if skiing offpiste without the required knowledge and training, going with a qualified instructor / guide is highly recommend.
