OFF-PISTE TOURING - TIGNES

COURSE DATE: TBC or let's make a course in 2023  PRICE: 700 €uros  MAX GROUP SIZE: Min 4 - Max 5

Late March and its Spring Touring Time!

Plenty of ski time but your going to have to work for some of it! Ski touring really gets you out there and skiing the fresh stuff only a select few can access.  With up to 1000m+ of skinning on some days you need a good fitness level on our Off-Piste Touring course.

The aim of this course is to find the best snow EVERY day!!!  We will still work on your skiing skills where and when required but we ain't gona stand around talking about it too much. Of course there's always room for improvement.

We place a big focus on mountain awareness.  I'll share with you how instructors and guides look at the mountain and make better decision on where and where NOT to ski!

Who's it for?

This course is for competent off-piste skiers with a good level of fitness who really want to explore the backcountry.  Its not all about the most miles skied but the quality of descents and really getting away from the crowds!

Whats included?

  • 5 Days. 6-7 hours on snow per day. Instructional guided ski touring, Off-piste mountain skills & technical skiing skills.
  • Avalanche safety equipment, Transceiver shovel, probe and pack (Although it's well worth investing in these items so you get used to using your own).

Whats not included:

  • Flights, Accommodation, lift pass.  Price is for course only.

Itinerary:

Day 1 - Warm up ski, transceiver training, Check Kit and Start exploring.

Day 2 - Searching for snow, Ski, maybe a short skin, conditions dependant.

Day 3 - Ski touring (skin) into the backcountry to find untracked snow and have an adventure.

Day 4 - Off-piste only, a rest from the up!

Day 5 - Play time, Option to do reverse Heli-ski which involves a long off-piste descent, get picked up by helicopter and brought back to the resort, (extra cost applies, but not too much!)

We will usually stop for an hour for lunch either a Packed lunch, restaurant or Mountain Refuge,  depending on the itinerary for the day.

Gear:

  • Off-piste touring skis with a waist width of 85-100cm,  but these can be hired in resort.
  • Bring a back pack, capable of carrying avalanche safety equipment, 25l - 30l, with straps for attaching skis and helmet. All this can be provided.
  • Helmet definitely recommended.

A more extensive kit list will be provided before or at time of booking.

Note on airbags pack packs, these are a great added extra if you have one but by no means a substitute for transceiver, shovel and probe.
